These Cheesy Jalapeño Popper Pinwheels are crispy, creamy, spicy, and completely irresistible. Made with cream cheese, cheddar, jalapeños, and crescent dough, they come together in under 30 minutes and are perfect for game day or any party.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced jalapeños, seeds removed
  • 1/4 cup cooked bacon bits
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for 30 minutes, or microwave in 10-second bursts until soft but not hot.
  3. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with a hand mixer until smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the shredded cheddar, diced jalapeños, bacon bits, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well combined.
  4. Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean cutting board. Press the perforations together gently with your fingers to seal them into a large rectangle. Repeat with the second tube, placing it next to the first to make an even larger rectangle if desired.
  5. Using a spatula or the back of a spoon, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border along the long edges. Aim for about 1/4 inch thickness.
  6. Starting from the long edge closest to you, roll the dough tightly into a log, like cinnamon rolls. Pinch the seam to seal it closed.
  7. Place the log in the freezer for 10 minutes to firm up for easier slicing.
  8. Using a sharp serrated knife, slice the log into 1/2-inch rounds. Wipe the knife clean between cuts for neat slices. You should get about 12-14 pinwheels per log (24-28 total).
  9. Place the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. Brush the tops with melted butter and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning if using.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  11. Let them rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a serving platter.

Notes

Don’t skip the chilling step—it makes slicing much easier. For less heat, remove the white membrane from jalapeños. For more heat, leave some seeds in. If using a dark baking sheet, check the pinwheels a minute or two early to prevent burning. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.
