A quick and festive Halloween snack board combining sweet candy corn with sharp cheddar cheese, perfect for last-minute parties. Ready in 15 minutes with budget-friendly ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, cut into cubes or slices
  • 6 ounces Gouda or smoked cheese, sliced
  • 1 small wheel Brie or soft-ripened cheese
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened (optional)
  • 1 cup candy corn (classic Brach’s brand recommended)
  • 1 cup chocolate-covered pretzels
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate squares, broken into pieces
  • ½ cup dried cranberries or cherries
  • 6 ounces salami or pepperoni, sliced thin (Genoa salami preferred)
  • 2 cups assorted crackers (mix of buttery rounds, whole wheat squares, and salted varieties)
  • ½ cup green olives or cornichons
  • ½ cup almonds or pecans, toasted if possible
  • 1 cup blackberries or dark grapes
  • 1 orange bell pepper, sliced into strips
  • ¼ cup pumpkin seeds, shelled and toasted

Instructions

  1. Place your board on the counter or table where you’ll be serving. If using parchment paper, cut it to fit and lay it down.
  2. Arrange small bowls in a triangle or scattered pattern across the board. Put olives in one, dried cranberries in another, and pumpkin seeds or nuts in a third.
  3. Place the brie wheel in a prominent spot. Arrange cheddar cubes in a small pile or line them up. Fan out gouda slices in a layered pattern. Leave space between different cheeses.
  4. Fold salami slices in half, then in half again, and arrange in a small pile or overlapping pattern. Roll into cylinders for a more elegant look. Place near the cheeses they pair best with.
  5. Pour candy corn into a small pile directly on the board (not in a bowl). Let some pieces scatter naturally around the edges. Place near the sharp cheddar.
  6. Arrange crackers in small clusters around the board, especially near the cheeses. Use different shapes and sizes for visual interest.
  7. Place chocolate-covered pretzels in a small pile near the candy corn. Break dark chocolate squares into pieces and scatter them around.
  8. Tuck blackberries or grapes into empty spaces. Arrange orange bell pepper strips in a fan pattern. Sprinkle toasted pumpkin seeds around for texture.
  9. If using cream cheese, put it in a small bowl, smooth the top, and sprinkle a few candy corn pieces on top for decoration. Place near the brie.
  10. Step back and look at your board. Fill any obvious empty spots with extra crackers, nuts, or scattered candy corn. Let sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, take cheeses out of the fridge about 30 minutes before assembling. Don’t overcrowd the board; leave about an inch of space between items. Keep extra candy corn and popular items in the kitchen for refills. If serving outdoors, keep board in shade to prevent candy corn from getting sticky.
