A quick and easy weeknight dinner featuring succulent shrimp and charred broccoli in a sticky honey garlic sauce, all cooked in one skillet in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Green onions for garnish
  • Sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Mix the sauce in a small bowl: combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir until honey dissolves completely. Set aside.
  3. Heat your skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and let it shimmer, about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the broccoli florets to the hot pan in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes. Toss once and cook another 2 minutes until charred.
  5. Push broccoli to the sides of the pan, creating a space in the center. Add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook 1-2 minutes per side until pink and opaque.
  6. Pour the sauce over everything. Stir to coat. Let it bubble for 1 minute.
  7. Add the cornstarch slurry and stir immediately. The sauce will thicken in about 30 seconds.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning. Remove from heat.
  9. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve immediately over rice, quinoa, or noodles.

Notes

Prep all ingredients before starting; the dish cooks quickly. For best results, use large shrimp (21-25 count) and fresh broccoli. Adjust sauce sweetness or spiciness to taste. Leftovers keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; reheat in a skillet with a splash of water.
