  • 1 cup (240ml) silver tequila (blanco)
  • 3 tablespoons (45ml) fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) triple sec or orange liqueur
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons (15-30ml) agave syrup or simple syrup
  • 2 cups (480ml) ice cubes
  • Pinch of salt (for rimming glass or adding to mix)
  • Red, white, and blue sprinkles or sugar (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glasses by pouring salt or sugar onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rims of your glasses, then dip them into the salt or sugar to coat. Set aside.
  2. In a blender, combine frozen strawberries, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup. Pulse until strawberries are roughly chopped but not fully smooth.
  3. Add tequila and triple sec to the blender and blend until fully mixed and slightly frothy.
  4. Add ice cubes to the blender. Pulse in short bursts to crush the ice and blend with the strawberry mixture until thick and slushy.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or lime juice as desired. Blend again for 30 seconds if adjustments are made.
  6. Pour the frozen margarita into prepared glasses. Sprinkle red, white, and blue sugar or sprinkles on top. Garnish with a lime wheel or fresh strawberry if desired.

Notes

Use frozen strawberries for best icy texture; if using fresh strawberries, add extra ice. Blend fruit and alcohol before adding ice to keep texture smooth. Pulse ice in short bursts to avoid watery consistency. Rim glasses with salt or sugar for classic margarita zing. Adjust sweetness with agave syrup to taste. If drink thickens after sitting, stir or add splash of cold water or soda.
